Future Collaboration with CERN

Swisspod and CERN’s Knowledge Transfer Group (CERN KT) are exploring multiple areas and methods of cooperation, disseminating CERN technologies and examining the use of innovative materials optimizing the propulsion system.

CERN experts will be involved in knowledge transfer activities on several fronts, including the use of innovative materials for the Linear Induction Motor (LIM), a technology that will enable the propulsion of our vehicles at sonic speeds. A LIM is a type of alternating current electric machine that produces a linear movement rather than a rotational one, which by contrast is commonly used in electric vehicles through rotational induction machines.

The valuable knowledge from CERN engineers’ vast expertise on electro-magnets, tunneling and vacuum infrastructure together with the transfer of technologies and know-how will allow us to improve the efficiency of our proprietary propulsion system leading to a superior Hyperloop proposition.
